UFC President Dana White logged into Twitter on Saturday and posted two clips of the much talked about sparring session between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and boxing veteran Paulie Malignaggi. The first 10-second clip shows McGregor dropping the former two-weight world champion Malignaggi to the canvas before referee Joe Cortez steps in. The second clip features McGregor landing his signature straight left hand on Malignaggi and cracking him in the back of the head.
The controversy surrounding the sparring session started when a picture showing Paulie Malignaggi on the canvas leaked from the fight camp. Malignaggi claimed that he wasn’t knocked down but pushed down to the ground. The former IBF junior welterweight and WBA welterweight champion called for McGregor’s camp to release the full video footage for the sparring season to prove that he was in fact pushed to the canvas.
