UFC lightweight contenders Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje will meet in the main event at UFC Fight Night Glendale, which takes place on Saturday 14th April, at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier scored the biggest win of his career in his last fight against former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis last November. Poirier finished the bout via TKO in the third round after a rib injury left Pettis unable to continue the fight.
Former WSOF lightweight champion Justin Gaethje has been involved in two absolute wars since joining the UFC in 2017. Gaethje made his ultra-violent debut against Michael Johnson at The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption Finale. The Grudge Training Center representative stopped Johnson in the second round, earning Performance of the Night and Fight of the Night in process. Gaethje suffered the first loss of his professional career against former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 218 last December. Alvarez KO’d Gaethje in the third round after an all-out brawl to determine the unofficial title of ‘UFC’s most violent man’ in the Fight of the Night.
